The Washington Experience

As a Professor of Political Science, I encourage all students with an interest in politics to spend at least one summer in Washington, DC before they graduate. The learning experience is simply invaluable. Unfortunately, Washington is an expensive city and most internships only offer limited compensation. As director of the Washington Experience, one of my goals is to award scholarship assistance to every participating student.

I am pleased to say that we have made substantial progress toward that goal. Because of the generosity of a number of individuals, my colleagues and I were able to award over $5,000 to deserving students last year. My colleagues, my students, and I are all very grateful for the support we received.

Right now, I am in the process of raising funds for this summer’s program. Every year I try to get more students to come to Washington and I never like to see students turned away because of financial reasons.

If you are interested in making a donation to this summer’s Washington Experience feel free to email me at or call me at (205) 657-6943. Your donation might make a big difference in the life of an Alabama undergraduate.
