Welcome to the online home of The University of Alabama's Washington Experience program. The Washington Experience awards political science course credit to University of Alabama undergraduates who successfully complete political internships in Washington, DC during the summertime.


This website is a great resource for students who wish to spend their summer in Washington. It contains information about internships, housing, events, and scholarships. Any student who is interested in doing a Washington, DC internship is more than welcome to contact me with questions or arrange an appointment to discuss various internship possibilities.

    Application Deadline for Washington Experience Program is February 15th

    The application deadline for the University of Alabama’s Washington Experience program is February 15th. Students can download an application from the website and email it to Professor Michael New at Michael.J.New@gmail.com.
    Students with questions about interning in Washington, DC or about the Washington Experience program are encouraged to contact Professor New by email and set up an appointment.

    Washington Experience Completes Successful Summer
    January 18, 2014

    The University of Alabama Washington Experience program just completed a successful summer. Over 20 undergraduates received political science course credit for their Washington, DC internships and over 40 students who were in Washington over the summer participated in at least one event.
